OMG  "OMG - A Youth Ministry Handbook" - Kenda Creasy Dean

“Most contemporary young people operate far enough from Moses’ moral compass that it never occurs to them that “OMG” (“oh my God,” in teenspeak) has anything to do with the Ten Commandments, much less that it breaks one of them. After all, the phrase is a nearly ubiquitous adolescent throw-away line…Yet Christians should hear the phrase “oh my God” differently. Youth ministers, parents, teachers—anyone who has ever loved an adolescent—know that “OMG” can be a prayer, a plea, a petition, a note of praise, or an unbidden entreaty that escapes our lips as we seek Christ for the young people we love.” -from the book

"The Alchemist" - Paulo Coelho

PAULO COELHO'S enchanting novel has inspired a devoted following around the world. This story, dazzling in its powerful simplicity and inspiring wisdom, is about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along the way he meets a Gypsy woman, a man who calls himself king, and an alchemist, all of whom points Santiago in the direction of his quest. No one knows what the treasure is, or if Santiago will be able to surmount the obstacles along the way. But what starts out as a journey to find wordly goods turns into a discovery of the treasure found within. Lush, evocative, and deeply humane, the story of Santiago is an eternal testament to the transformation power of our dreams and the importance of listening to our hearts.  spirituality of sex

"The Spirituality of Sex" - Michael Schwartzentruber, Mary Millerd, Charlotte Jackson, Lois Huey-Heck

Sexuality and spirituality are sacred gifts that are part of being human. But we have been taught that in order to be truly spiritual we must overcome our physical needs and desires. It is time to embrace a more holistic view of sex and human spirituality. With evocative prose and beautiful images Michael Schwartzentruber, Lois Huey-Heck, Mary Millerd and Charlotte Jackson add their voices to the ever-growing chorus inviting people to recognise sex and sexuality as inherently sacred - as a divine way of being, as a potential way to know God.

"Win Win Games for All Ages" and "Everyone Wins"

Win-Win Games for All Ages is all about people getting to know one another better and deepening relationships. This exciting resource offers ways to hear values, demonstrate skills, and express oneself in safety — critical social skills that will last a lifetime. Everyone Wins, a Parent Choice Award-winner, has been on New Society Publishers' best-seller list over 10 years. Now, the authors of the original cooperative games book have developed a sequel designed to enhance harmonious human relationships. Included are 40 all-new games and activities such as "Fashion Victim," "Do You Believe in Lies," and "Monster Mash." Thirteen Initiatives like "Outer Space Decision Exercise" and "Nuclear Waste" focus on group problem solving activities. Three Holistic Learning Adventures explore trust-building in week-long experiences. Riskis a central factor in learning to open oneself and trusting others — each type of engagement in Win-Win Games for All Ages requires increasing risk. For facilitators that wish to deepen a group's dynamics and cooperation, each activity is followed by a debriefing section to help participants discuss and understand the risks that have taken together and as individuals. Most of the activities are designed for groups of children, but many can be adapted for adults as well as for all ages playing together. This value-based game sourcebook is perfect for educators, parents, and anyone who works with children!
